James Donaldson

James Donaldson brings nearly 25 years of experience and success in the BC food industry to his position as CEO of the BC Food Processors Association (BCFPA).  Since taking the reins at the BCFPA in 2014, he has restructured the organization to facilitate growth, redefined the value of membership, rebranded the organization, improved member programs and services, and strengthened advocacy efforts.  Since then its membership has more than doubled to nearly 450 members with a goal of reaching 500 members by the end of 2017.  Its processor members represent approximately $6 billion in revenue.

James work history includes experience with businesses ranging in size from start-up ventures to multi-national corporations and everything in between.  He has held positions with companies such as Diageo, Yves Veggie Cuisine, BC Hot House Foods, Maple Leaf Foods, and Superior Freeze Dry in sales, marketing, and general management functions.

Prior to joining the BCFPA, James had been working as a management consultant as Principal of Flashpoint Strategies, providing strategy, planning, business development, advisory and coaching services to small and mid-sized companies in the food & beverage, pet food, and consumer goods categories.

Originally from Manitoba, James moved to BC in 1991 upon graduating from the University of Manitoba.  He resides in Surrey, BC with his wife Sharon and three children; Jordan, Emily and Justin.
