Patricia Muir

patriciaamuir-2014-colourPatricia is a veteran business owner, a champion of women business owners, and thought leader in personal and professional quality, leadership, and transitions. She works with business owners and leader-managers in developing and implementing best practices that contribute to a great place to work and great profits.

As a standard-bearer, Patricia helps both employers and employees raise standards to thrive professionally and personally. Patricia is recognized as a champion for an inclusive positive experience in the workplace and a major contributor to the well-being of employees and the profitability of the business. She is known for modeling “professional composure” and speaking the language of “excellence”.

Concepts of Emotional Intelligence and Positive Psychology along with Patricia’s extensive experience in Quality Management and Personal Development underpin her work. She recently debuted “THRIVE”, an executive coaching program focused on successful return to work during and after cancer treatment. Upon request from clients and other stakeholders, the program is being adapted to address return-to-work challenges related to other critical illnesses and personal traumatic life events.

After a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2013, Patricia developed her own return-to-work plan from the perspective of a business owner, employer, employee, and a thought leader in personal and professional transitions. Her insights highlight the unique and significant fears and challenges that compromise a business woman’s well-being and her successful return to work.

Patricia addresses issues of this business megatrend in workplace wellness and effectiveness by sharing her logistical and emotional strategies for working through fears and challenges during or after cancer. She challenges language that perpetuates “victim” or “hero” expectations and compromises overall well-being. She speaks of the “experience” rather than the “journey” and offers an alternative to “work/life balance” as a strategy.
